An exceptional Gianfranco Ferré archive two-piece set from the late 1980s, composed of a sharply structured asymmetric jacket and high-waisted draped bermuda shorts. The ensemble reflects Ferré’s distinctive architectural approach to fashion, combining precise tailoring with bold proportions and dramatic decorative elements. The jacket features a defined, sculptural silhouette with pronounced padded shoulders, a fitted waist and an asymmetric front closure. Its most striking detail is the sculptural panel applied to the left side of the bodice, richly embellished with silver and black sequins arranged in a geometric pattern. The matching high-waisted bermuda shorts introduce a contrasting sense of volume, with deep pleats creating a softly draped, balloon-like silhouette that tapers towards the hem. Entirely covered in alternating diagonal rows of silver and black sequins, the shorts bring a striking interplay of texture and light to the ensemble. The contrast between the jacket’s architectural construction and the fluid, embellished volume of the bermuda shorts makes this a remarkable expression of Ferré’s late-1980s design language, where formal tailoring meets theatrical glamour.
